My first impression was that Dr. Nease is very focused. He want's his patients success and it is personal for him. The staff are really sweet, Jackie Stanley is the first person you work with, she is the Insurance guru and she will tell you everything you need to accomplish to get your first appointment with Dr. Nease.

Comments About Center for Surgical Weight Control:
My surgeon was Dr Nease, from Huntington, West Virginia. My first impression of him was truly someone who cares about you and your situation. He tells you in the seminar why he originally got into this was due to a family history of obesity. I was very upfront and honest with me in our first visit and gave me a lot of information to digest but was willing to answer any questions I had. He does not push you through your visit, if you have questions he will stay in the room with you until he has answered and you understand everything. This impressed me. Although your scheduled appt. time may run over after your first visit you will understand why your an hour past your time and have not been called back yet. His office staff is above outstanding. One of his staff has had WLS herself and is willing to help you with anything or questions you may have. The dietitian is wonderful and understanding of your needs and situations that may differ in your case from others. His nurse is very calming and reassuring and has a great compassion toward obese people.I live 3 hours from his office and his staff and himself were more than accommodating to my schedule and comfort for appts and classes even on the day of surgery they were looking out for me and my family to arrange everything. On a scale of 1-10 Dr Nease and his staff are far off the scale .. honestly at least a 15! He has patients as far away as Arizona and California coming in to have surgery so that ought to speak louder than anything..... He is truly wonderful!

Personal Comments:
I am 38 years old and have been overweight all my life. I have tried everything imagineable to lose weight. I hope that WLS will give me the tool I need to succeed. It is now January 18th 2003 and I finally have a date for my initial consultaion with my surgeon. It seems to take so long for each step. My surgeon has a group called LifeQuest and they are a wonderful bunch of people. They are all so helpful and informative and genuinely caring. The first step is to attend a seminar explaining the group and to obtain info on WLS. I attended this seminar in November. I also attend monthly support group meetings. People that I have met at these meetings and also through the internet have been wonderful. My next step is the consultation with Dr. Stickler and his staff. After that, I will have to have the psych evaluation and any additional tests that are required. Then on to the insurance approval ordeal. My insurance is CIGNA but my company is self pay so my surgery wil... Click here to read more

Comments About Center for Surgical Weight Control:
I had heard very good things about Dr. Nease and decided to atend one of his seminars. I got a little irritated when one of his staff told me he won't do the surgery on a smoker. Great, another slam for being a smoker;) I almost left, but decided to at least stay and listen. I was very impressed with Dr. Nease. He goes over some of his family history and it's clear why he is so passionate about what he does. I knew by the time it was over, this was what I needed to do to improve my health. I am also extremely proud to say I gave up a 31year, 2 pack a day smoking habit! 1/29/10 will make a year. It's a long, slow process to eventually get everything done to have surgery, but it's SO worth it. Dr. Nease and his staff make sure that you're very well informed and educated prior to surgery, and have support groups to help before and after surgery. I was banded on Sept. 23,2009. Cabell Huntington Hospital has wonderful facilities and staff to assist you both pre and post op. Dr Nease is great in preparing you for surgery and in his visits after surgery. I've had several surgeries and this one went very smoothly. A lot in part to my knowing what to expect. I'm very happy with my decision and with my ongoing progress. If I had to say anything negative, it would only be that it's a very busy office and I usually have to wait quite a while when I go to my appointments, but to me, it's well worth the wait:)

Very professional, intelligent, excellent rapport, very competent No Professional and competent Nothing His entire program is based on education/ aftercare. It couldn't be anymore structured. Excellent, Outstanding, The BEST He is very surgically competent, and had excellent bedside manner..... But if I had to choice between them... I'd take a surgically competent anyday over bedside manner.

Comments About Center for Surgical Weight Control:
I have only met this doctor twice. He actually does the seminars. This I found interesting. I have had my initial visit with him. He asked any questions about records he had and let me ask any questions I had. Dr. Nease made me feel very comfortable with him. He was easy to speak too. His staff is hard to get a hold of, but they will return your call or email. I feel sometimes that I am a pest, but I am so eager to have this done.

I have only met this doctor twice. He actually does the seminars. This I found interesting. I have had my initial visit with him. He asked any questions about records he had and let me ask any questions I had. He did seem a bit rushed, but then again all doctors are I think. His office staff are hard to reach and don't always return phone calls. When they do they are very helpful. They have moved from the hospital to other offices since I have began this process and I only found out when I tried to call them and they had left a message on their voice mail. 2/16/09 It has gotten much easier to get in touch with the staff since the move to their new offices. They have been very patient and helpful.

Comments About Center for Surgical Weight Control:
1. He is experienced, communicates well, approachable, and easy on the eyes. 2. Only that he expects you to get honest with yourself and him. 3. The staff is knowledgable, friendly, and well versed. You need to be proactive and able to ask questions. 4. At that time the program needed more emphasis on the social/pysch. aspect. 5. Much follow-up in office. Monthly meetings available. Starting classes for extended support with hablits for those several yrs. out. 6. Follow up includes talking with the dieticiian. You must be proactive with her. 7. Lays it all out holding back nothing. 8. I go to Cabell because of my trust in Dr. Nease and his ability to take care of me. 9. Surgical competence is top grade and bedside manner is good.

Comments About Center for Surgical Weight Control:
I have had a very good experience with Dr. Neace and his staff. I first saw Dr. Neace during the pre-op orientation and was impressed with his honesty with risks of surgery and his ability to explain the whole process in layman's terms. During my visits, he took the time to answer any questions I had. I feel comfortable with Dr. Neace, because he doesn't make you feel like you are obese because you are lazy and eat too much. He understands there are more complex reasons as to why a person is obese. His office staff is very caring and take the time to talk to you if you have a problem or have questions. They make you feel welcome at support group meetings. So far, I have nothing negative to say. I've had a great experience.
